The Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) has announced the participation of legal practitioner, Godswill O. Umahi, as a panelist at its 2026 Annual Conference and 6th Lecture Series, with renowned academic and media professional, Professor Kemi Anthony Emina, OdiEga, set to moderate the discussion.
The event, scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2026, will hold at David’s Event Centre, GRA, Asaba, Delta State, under the theme: “Democracy Under Pressure: Electoral Integrity, Security Challenges, and Media Accountability.”
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, is expected to attend as the Special Guest of Honour.
In a statement on Sunday, Chairman of the DOPF Annual Conference and 6th Lecture Series Planning Committee, Deacon Chijioke Williams Ugbolue, and the Secretary, Comrade Josephine Omodior, said Umahi’s participation would enrich discussions on the legal and regulatory challenges confronting the media in an increasingly digital environment.
They said his expertise in data privacy, regulatory compliance, artificial intelligence, technology law and the rule of law would provide valuable perspectives on electoral integrity, public accountability and the responsibilities of online publishers.
Umahi, a legal practitioner with over a decade of experience, has handled litigation involving land, contracts, criminal matters and general civil cases.
His professional interests also cover global data privacy and data retention, supported by certifications in artificial intelligence, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and business startup management.
Beyond legal practice, he contributes to public discourse on national issues, particularly the intersection of law, technology and governance.
His participation is expected to offer insights into the legal and ethical challenges facing digital publishers amid the growing influence of technology on information dissemination.
Meanwhile, Professor Emina’s acceptance to moderate the panel discussion is expected to bring considerable academic, journalistic, broadcasting and public communication experience to the event.
A philosopher, scholar, broadcaster, journalist and community leader, Emina has built a career around intellectual engagement, public service and human development.
His principal academic interests are Development Philosophy and African Metaphysics, through which he examines developmental and philosophical challenges confronting Africa and humanity.
Emina was among the pioneer staff of Delta Printing and Publishing Company Ltd., publishers of The Pointer newspaper, before expanding his professional experience at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
He also served as Worldwide President of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association and was an active member of the university’s Governing Council. He currently chairs the Board of UI Ventures Ltd.
His contributions to scholarship, leadership and community development have earned him several honours, including the traditional title of OdiEga of Ebu.
The organisers expressed confidence that his experience across journalism, broadcasting, philosophy and institutional leadership would help steer a balanced and engaging discussion on electoral credibility, security challenges and media accountability.
The DOPF conference is expected to bring together media practitioners, academics, policymakers, legal experts and other stakeholders to examine pressing issues affecting Nigeria’s democracy and the media’s role in protecting democratic values.
The forum also aims to promote informed public discourse, strengthen professional standards among online publishers and encourage responsible journalism at a time when misinformation, national security concerns, electoral integrity and declining public trust remain significant challenges.
The annual conference and lecture series is part of the forum’s efforts to deepen engagement on issues affecting democratic governance and the evolving responsibilities of the media in Nigeria.
